Learn the basics!
For this career path, it’s best to start with basic computer networking training. Make sure you not only have a computer but you also are very comfortable with it. Basic computer skills will be the foundation on which the rest of your programming skills are built.
Step 2
Make your decision!
There are different kinds of programming languages, so you will have to figure out what type of programs you want to write and which programming language is the right fit. Operating systems, databases, games etc. all have a distinctive language. Some examples are C++, Delphi, and Visual Basic.
Step 3
Purchase Software!
While some jobs may provide you with the necessary software, you may need to purchase it on your own in order to have time to become familiar with it and gain experience.
Step 4
Education!
There are many accredited degree programs available that focus on computer networking. An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree that focuses in Information Technology and Computer Networking will help set you apart as many of the people applying for jobs in this field will only hold certifications. The proper education will show potential employers that you have a true understanding of how to use computer networking to meet their needs.
